Sebastien Vettel has been strongly linked with a move to Ferrari to partner Fernando Alonso for the 2014 season. Mark confirmed yesterday that he had held talks with the Italian team about driving for the Scuderia next season however he felt that staying at RBR was the way forward given his current position in the Driver's Championship.
Anyway it is no secret that Ferrari are very keen to Vettel on board to partner Alonso in 2014 and if that happens we could have a situation where we have Mark as the lead driver at RBR in 2014 with either Daniel Ricciardo or Jean Eric Vernge as his team mate.
I find it extremely interesting that next season there could be very few changes in driver line-eps. Mark Webber was the key to the 2013 driver market and with his seat at RedBull secured that could leave room for Felipe Massa to stay at Ferrari following on from his 4th place finish at the British GrandPrix as the team had wanted to sign Mark Webber or Sergio Perez for 2013. Perez is part of the team's Young Driver Programme.
Michael Schumacher hinted yesterday that he may extend his Mercedes stay as he said that he is not satisfied and is not ready to retire for a second time. Nico Rosberg is tied to Merc on a long term deal. The potential of Schumacher staying at Merc that could scupper Lewis Hamilton's plan's as it is believed that the McLaren driver who is out of contract at the end of the year had been looking at a move to the Brackley based team.Force India's Paul Di Resta was also possibly on their radar however he is likely to stay on at Force India with Nico Hulkenberg.
Meanwhile at Lotus, Kimi Raikkonen has a two year deal and is performing extremely well for the team. It is also believed that Romain Grosjean who is also performing extremely well for the Enstone based team is expected to stay on next year.
