Marussia test driver Maria De Villota underwent further surgery today following he crash on Tuesday her team confirmed today. She is now is a serious but stable condition following today's surgery to address the facial injuries that she sustained.
Meanwhile on track today in Silverstone Lewis Hamilton topped the timesheet's during a session that suffered torrential down pours throughout. The McLaren driver was just ahead of Sauber's Kamui Kobayashi. Mercedes were next with Michael Schumacher in 4th and Nico Rosberg 5th.
RedBull's reigning champion Sebastian Vettel was down in 13th while his team mate Mark Webber was down in 23rd place after only completing one lap.
McLaren's Jenson Button was 6th just ahead of the Caterham of Heikki Kovalainen. Meanwhile Kimi Raikkonen was 8th and after topping the time sheets in first practice Romain Grosjean was down in 21st after only completing an installation lap.
Race organizers of the British GrandPrix in Solverstone have insisted that the race will go ahead as planned on Sunday. However they have told car park pass holders who have not prebooked their pass to stay way due to the poor weather conditions. They have said that for any day's that spectators can't go to the race due to weather they will refund ticket's.
There was chaos this morning as thousands of fan's heading to the circuit for practice missed the on track action due to the huge traffic jams at and around the circuit. Organizers of the race have anoounced that they have launched a full investigation into what it happened.
