Alonso on pole as rain disrupts qualifying

Ferrari's Fernando Alonso will start tomorrow's British GrandPrix at Silverstone from pole position. the Spaniard managed to set the fastest time in the final part of qualifying just ahead of Mark Webber and Michael Schumacher. The session was red flagged halfway through Q2 as the circuit was hit by a torrential downpour. At the time of the stoppage Sauber's Sergio Perez was topping the timesheets, however the Mexican will start the race from 17th place.

It was another frustrating session for Jenson Button who struggled to get heat into his front tyre's was knocked out in Q1 and will start from 18th on the grid. Team mate Lewis Hamilton had a difficult session too and will star from on the on grid.

Meanwhile reigning world champion Sebastien Vettel was out qualified by his team mate and will start from fourth while Mark Webber will start from the front row in second. It was a great day for Kimi Raikkonen as he will start the race from 6th on the grid ahead of Lewis Hamilton, Romain Grosjean and Nico Hulkenberg.

Romain Grosjean got into Q3 but he beached his car in the gravel and as a result was not allowed to take part in the final part of qualifying.

With the race set to be wet tomorrow, we are going to be in for a cracker.
