Fantastic news as De Villota is awake

There was fantastic news from Marussia team boss John Booth on Sunday night as he confirmed that the team's test driver Maria De Villota is awake and has been talking to her family. This is great news following the horrendous crash that she suffered on Tuesday morning during a test session in England.

The cause of the accident is yet to be determined however the investigation is on going. Although Maria remains in a serious but stable condition it is great to hear that she has been talking to her family and that her condition continues to make progress.

FIA technical delegate Charlie Whiting has said that the accident had a once in five million change of happening. They are continuing to work closely with the team's to improve driver safety. The former FIA Medical delegate to the FIA Professor Sid Watkins was at Silverstone for the British GrandPrix however he was not asked about his thought's on Maria's crash.

I think it just goes to show how well she has been looked after as she has had two major operation's since the accident and is awake, bearing in mind the crash happened 5 day's ago. The Marussia team will continue to provide update's on Maria's condition however the next update is not expected until later next week.
