The weather looks set to play a major part at this weekend's season opener in Melbourne's Albert Park circuit. Forecasters are predicting heavy rain showers and potential thunder storms throughout the weekend.
Should the predicted wet weather appear it is going to throw a spanner in the works as all the preseason testing form could go out the window. During preseason testing there was very little wet weather running in Spain.
With the prospect of rain at the circuit which is only used for Formula One it is going to make the circuit extremely slippery. The rest of the year the circuit is used as a public road through Albert Park so it is going to be extremely interesting to see how this year's Pirelli tyre's cope with the predicted conditions.
I fully expect that we will see the safety make an appearance at some point during Sunday's race. The temperatures are going to play a key part over the weekend. On Friday for the opening Practice session's they are expecting high's of 23oC, low's and low's of 17oC. On Saturday temperature's will be high's of 20oC and low's of 12oC and finally on Sunday for the race there will be high's of 22oC and low's of 12oC. It will certainly be an extremely interesting season opener this weekend.
