Alguersuari was dropped by Toro Rosso at the end of the 2011 season along with his team mate Sebastian Buemi and they were replaced at the team by Daniel Ricciardo and Jean-Eric Vergne.

With the announcement that Alguersuari has joined the BBC their F1 team is not complete. For their radio coverage of Formula One the BBC have an all new lineup with James Allen and Jaime Alguersuari replaces the Sky Sports F1HD bound David Croft and Anthony Davidson.

This year Lee is joined by former Jordan and Jaguar technical chief Gary Anderson who takes over from Ted Travitz Gary will also be with Eddie, Jake and DC during the build up to races to discuss the new regulations and to talk about any technical issues that may come up over the course of a GrandPrix weekend. This is a position that Gary has also held with Ireland's Formula One broadcaster Setanta Sports.

While the front of house team remains the same with Jake Humphrey presenting alongside Eddie Jordan and David Coulthard for a fourth consecutive season there is a change in the TV commentary box as former Eurosport F1 commentator Ben Edwards takes over from Martin Brundle as the BBC's lead commentator, he will be joined in the commentary box this year by David Coulthard who returns to the commentator box for a second year.
