The Marussia Formula One team unveiled their 2012 car dubbed the MR-01 to the media at Silverstone this morning. The Cosworth powered car is one of only two cars on this year's grid not to feature a stepped nose. McLaren are the only team who do not have a stepped nose on their car, ironically since last year Marussia have had a technical partnership with McLaren Applied Technology a division of the McLaren Group parent company of the McLaren Formula One team.
The design of the new MR-01 was overseen by Marussia's technical consultant and former Renault technical chief Pat Symonds. The new car made it's track debut at Silverstone this morning. Their driver's Timo Glock and new signing Charles Pic will share driving duties today and tomorrow. The team are in a race against time to get their car's ready for the season opener in Melbourne next weekend.
Meanwhile as all the other team's packed up and went home from Barcelona, HRT ran their new car for the first time today, the team are using a rule where are allowed to carry out filming testing day's. There are a number of restrictions in place however as the team are only allowed to run Pirelli's demonstration tyre's and are limited to running the car over 100 kilometres.
