Caterham sign Rossi

The Caterham Formula One team have announced that they have signed American racing driver Alexander Rossi as their new test and reserve driver for the 2012 F1 season. The 20 year old American will continue to race in the European Formula Renault series.

He will also take part in Friday Practice for the the Norfolk based team. This means that there will be an American driver on track at November's US GrandPrix in Austin Texas. Rossi will become the first American driver to participate in his home event since Scott Speed raced in the 2007 US GrandPrix in Indianapolis.

I believe that it would be fantastic to see an American driver racing in at his home GrandPrix. We will just have to watch this space. Caterham team boss Tony Fernandes may decide to put Rossi in a race sit for the US GrandPrix as it would be great exposure for his team and for the sport aswell. The GrandPrix of Texas is due to host the second last race of the season on November 18.
