McLaren's Jenson Button started the 2012 F1 season in style yesterday as he dominated the Australian GrandPrix in Melbourne. The 2009 champion started on the front row of the grid in second behind McLaren team-mate Lewis Hamilton however, Jenson made a much better start then Lewis and managed to get past him into turn one and went on to dominate the race to claim his third win in Australia in four year's.
RedBull's Sebastian Vettel finished in second place while a dejected Lewis Hamilton finished in third. It was a race to forget for Lotus driver Romain Grosjean who had stared in qualifying on Saturday by his E20 in third on the grid, however by the end of the race Grosjean had gone out of the race.
In contrast his team-mate and fellow F1 returnee Kimi Raikkonen had a very poor qualifying on Saturday following a mistake started the race from 17th on the grid came through the field to finish a fantastic 7th place collecting 6 points.
Meanwhile it was a great race for the Williams team as Pastor Maldonado found himself battling with Ferrari's Fernando Alonso and looked set to score points for Williams however he ran slightly wide just before the end of the race resulting in a violent crash ending his race.
After a very poor showing in qualifying on Saturday Ferrari managed to score points as Fernando Alonso brought his car home in 5th place just behind the RedBull of Mark Webber who scored his best ever home GrandPrix result with 4th place.
The race was fantastic, I thoroughly enjoyed it and can't wait until Malaysia this weekend.
