Following on from the news yesterday that the French GrandPrix is on the verge of a comeback to the F1 calendar if the organizers can reach an agreement to alternate with the Belgian GrandPrix it has been reported that the two Spanish GrandPrix venue's will alternate their event's from next season. The Spanish GrandPrix in Barcelona is traditionally the scene of the opening round of the European season and it is also where all the team's conduct their preseason testing.
The race in Valencia made it's debut in 2008 as the European GrandPrix as Germany decided to alternate their GrandPrix between Hockenhein and the Nurburgring which was the old Euroean GranPrix. In my opinion it is crazy for a country to have more then one GrandPrix, ut doesn't matter how popular a driver is it is unfair and it is not good for the sport to have too strong a presence in one country. As it is the European GrandPrix in Valencia is not particularly popular among the local population in Valencia.
I think it is great that firstly the sport is returning to the United State's this year with the race in Austin Texas and then as of next season team's will be racing around New Jersey with the Manhattan skyline as the back drop. It is great for the States and for Formula One because the US is such a big market and is extremely important to the major car manufacturers in Formula One.
