Lotus duo happy with performance in Korea

The Lotus driver's of Kimi Raikkonen and Romain Grosjean were happy following their points scoring finishes in this morning's Korean GrandPrix. Raikkonen, who started the race in fifth place finished in that place said after the race that he felt: 'fifth place was the maximum we could get today' The Iceman believes that although the championship is still a possibility it is going to be extremely tough to catch Sebastian Vettel.

Kimi believes that if they can get the new exhaust system working well over the next few practice sessions then the team will be in a strong position to be back challenging for podium's.

For Grosjean's part, the Frenchman was just happy to have finished in the points. He had a great battle with the Force India of Nico Hulkenberg and managed to bring the car home in the points. The next race in India is at the New Dheli International circuit has very similar characteristics to the Korean circuit so if Lotus are able to carry their performance from this weekend into the next race in India in my opinion they will be on for another good points haul and with McLaren tripping up this weekend Lotus are in a perfect position to capitalize on it.

The team could yet see themselves finish in third place in the Constructor's championship although fourth would be a great achievement too.

However the next two week's are going to be crucial in the development race as we have another back to back with India and Abu Dhabi just a week apart. Lotus want to end their 2012 season on a high they need to be careful that they don't spread themselves too thin in relation to the preparations for next season's car.

Gerard Lopez and Eric Bouillier should in my opinion be over the moon with Kimi Raikkonen's performance's this season when you consider where the team were last year, although last season was seen as somewhat of a transition period in the team. They should also be satisfied with Romain Grosjean's performances this season. Ok, he has had his issues this season but when he finishes races he has been consistent in scoring points for the team. He just needs to calm down like he did in Korea and have good starts and not get tangled up in any more incidents because I believe that if he can do that he and Kimi can score big points for the team from now until the end of the season in Brazil.
