GrandPrix ticket price's

Ok so in my last post I eluded to the fact that attending a Formula One race is extremely expensive in my opinion. I would love to hear your thought's on this particular subject. For example a weekend grand stand ticket to attend the US GrandPrix in Austin will cost roughly £969 and that's just for the ticket's it doesn't include flight's or accomadation.

For a weekend main grandstand ticket for the 2013 Spanish GrandPrix it will cost roughly €360. I know you can't really compare a European race to a flyaway race in the US but you still have to factor in expenses such as accomadation and flight's.

When attending a race you also have to factor in how much you spend at the circuit. There are of course the merchandising stands and also food stands. It is very similar to going to a live concert. For example, a official team t-shirt may cost you around €40 and a team hat could cost you around €20. Not to mention if you are looking to buy an official GrandPrix programme it could cost anything from €10 - €20 depending on the circuit you go to.

I was listening to Newsbeat on BBC Radio 1 yesterday and they were discussing the high cost of going to a Premiership football match. A typical ticket for a football match could cost £21 and a lot of people were saying that it was very expensive however it isn't really when you consider the price of going to a GrandPrix as the GrandPrix is over three day's so you can't really compare the two.

The last race I attended was the 2010 Italian GrandPrix. The ticket's for the race were £279 for the three day's of the event and because we had grandstand ticket's for the weekend on the Thursday of the race weekend we went to the circuit and were able to walk the pitlane which was an incredible experience.

In my opinion I believe that grand stand ticket price's should b lowered slightly particularly during the current economic climate so that it is more affordable for fan's to attend GrandPrix events.
