McLaren's Lewis Hamilton took pole position for tomorrow's Singapore GrandPrix, Formula One's only night race. The Brit, currently second in the championship will start just ahead of the Williams driver of Pastoe Maldonado who surprised everyone by putting his car on the front row. RedBull's Sebastian Vettel could only manage to qualify in third place after topping the timesheets in all of the free practice sessions.
Meanwhile Championship leader Fernando Alosno will start from 5th place on the grid just behind a slightly disappointed Jenson Button who is fourth. Further down the grid it was a disappointing session for Kimi Raikkonen and Lotus as the Finn missed out on Q3 and will start the race from 12th on the grid.
This was an unfortunate turn of events as Kimi is currently third in the championship only a point behind Hamilton so this is the last thing that he would have either wanted or expected however the race tomorrow is a completely different story.
It is going to be extremely interesting to see what happens at the start of the race as it is a very short run down to turn one and there is a very high possibility of a first corner incident and the safety car being called out. So we shall have to wait and see what happens under the Singapore night sky, whatever happens, we are in for a cracker
